World Routes 2012 in Abu Dhabi

Welcome to World Routes 2012 in Abu Dhabi...

The future is here. And in more ways than one – the 18th World Route Development Forum is the largest global event of its kind, determining the future of air services; while Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, is one of the most forward-looking, centrally located, and easily accessible cities on Earth.

Hosted by Abu Dhabi Airports Company - ADAC and supported by official carrier Etihad Airways and Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, the 2012 event is targeted to attract over 2,750 delegates from more than 80 countries. For more information about World Routes 2012 - Abu Dhabi, click here...

My role?

You would think since this is an airline marketing event, corporate marketing's role would merely consist of giving support. You're wrong! Being the host means we dedicate all our departments - the whole of Corporate Marketing and Communications - to make sure this would be one of the most memorable World Routes events ever.

So...currently I am reviewing the "operations manual" of the event and my schedule for the next 4 days. Tomorrow I start with 'Al Forsan Activity Day' and host 60 delegates, continue with 'Saturday Reception' at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr. Sunday, which is the opening day of the event, I start at 08:00 and finish the day at 'Welcome Reception'. On Monday, after another full day at ADNEC, we have the Networking Evening at Yas Marina Circuit, the home of Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Guests will reach the venue by passing through the circuit... keep your cameras ready! On the last day of the event, I will attend a couple of meetings and a Social Media Panel as we are going to launch our social media channels in Q4.

What else? There are so many things that are happening. To keep yourself up-to-date, you can download the WR app from here and follow the Airline Marketing Blog of ADAC, which will be updated regularly during the event. I hope to see a couple of old friends and colleagues from Turkey and Germany, attend some very promising Airline Briefings, and of course, do some networking.

Enjoy World Routes, Abu Dhabi style!
